Keyword-search tips.

The truth is only about 3 to 5 percent of job seekers find employment through online job sites. The ease of e-mail means big companies receive thousands of applications each day and so they often use a computer tracking system to sort applicants by skill. To catch the computer’s eye, you need to tailor your resume to the keyword searches these systems use.

In case you’re applying for an advertising job, you might want to put in your resume the word “creative” or “innovative”. Or if you’re after a sales job, try writing “good communication skills” in there. With this, there is a higher chance that the computer will read your resume and select you. (NOTE: Never lie on your resume. If you don’t have that skill, then don’t put it just to increase your chances).
